Literally, Dorayaki which comes from Japanese, consists of the words 'dora' which means gong because of its round shape and 'yaki' which means cooked until dry heat.

Difference between Dorayaki and Pancake

This traditional cake from Japan looks a bit like pancakes. But for the texture, Dorayaki looks thicker than Pancake. Meanwhile, in terms of color or appearance, Dorayaki is usually darker than Pancake with light brown color. Another difference is in the way of presentation. Dorayaki can be found in Supermarkets. Meanwhile, for Pancakes there’re various ways of serving in each country. Ideally, pancakes are served on a plate with several layers, then topping with maple syrup or honey.
